ShowMe is a global learning community, and is a place where anyone (in this case teachers/students) can learn or teach anything. Their mission is to connect great teachers and experts to students across the world! You can access ShowMe for free on www.showme.com, or download it at the app store for iPads, computers, and iPhones. Students under 13 cannot access without parent consent. The only issue that this app may have is that some parents might not be able to afford iPads, computers, or iPhones for their students to access the app. If this is the case, students can connect to the site while at school on the computers or iPads, and after school at the local library using their computers. If a teacher wishes to have an upgraded account, their lessons will only be available for other upgraded members to view as well. If a school does not pay to upgrade their account, then it will be money coming from the student’s pocket to purchase lessons that are not free on the app.
On the ShowMe iPad app, anyone can create lessons on a small virtual whiteboard. You can create a lesson on anything you can possibly imagine, with subjects ranging from chemistry to football strategy. When posting any content on ShowMe, you are doing so at your own risk. ShowMe does allow users to create privacy options that limit access to content, but they cannot commit to it always working, as they cannot control the actions of other users who you choose to share the information with. You can modify and remove personal information at any time, but if you are not willing to have enough personal information shared, then you cannot create a complete account. You must upload a profile photo, choose your location, and write a quick bio about yourself. You have to follow at least one topic/subject to complete creating your profile. If you wish you can follow multiple topics/subjects/people and being learning.

Anyone can access and use ShowMe. As a teacher registering students to individual accounts, you must supervise them while doing so and give proper and safe directions. If you are leaving the registration process up to the parents, please ensure that they understand the rules and regulations and are content with their child creating an account. For personal use, if you want to learn more about a topic or a subject, you can quickly make an account and begin searching for lessons on your topic of choice. While learning about ShowMe, a question that I found myself wondering is how do I easily find the correct material I am looking for on a certain subject if there are SO many videos to choose from? How can I be sure that different users will be able to find age appropriate and subject/topic appropriate lessons? There are so many similar topics and subjects to search and choose from that it can be quite overwhelming. As a teacher creating lessons, you must be careful to not create a lesson too similar to those already created. It is also unclear how to find the most recent and accurate videos posted, which has me questioning the organization of the site.
Personally, I would use it to create lessons for my students to use while at home. I will perform the lesson in class, but also post it to my account so that when students are at home and may need some extra help or need to listen to the lesson again, it can be accessed with ease. I can also use it to learn/teach myself about different subjects/topics that I am unsure or unclear about. This adds to my digital presence as an educator, with my lessons being readily available to my students at all times. Parents will also be able to grasp exactly what their children are learning at school and can learn from the lessons as well.

When using the site, you can easily type in what you are searching for in the search bar and look through multiple different lessons on the subject matter. With the search feature it is easy to use and search for everything you are looking for. Some features that may challenge users are just simply being overwhelmed by the amount of answers/lessons to the search criteria. Users must be as precise as possible to find the perfect lesson they are looking for.
You can show your finished work on your profile, and choose who can view your content. When you have completed a whiteboard lesson, you can choose specific people to show it to (students), or keep it public for everyone on the site to be able to view.

ShowMe can be a useful tool in the classroom, and at home for teachers, students, and parents. I would use it starting in the junior grades for students on multiple topics. Teachers can also create lessons and post them for the public to view and educate themselves on. Viewers can write comments, which is great personal reflection on lessons. Not only are teachers posting lessons, but they are constantly learning from themselves and other educators. When integrating ShowMe into my classroom, I would begin by first seeing if my students enjoy watching lessons in video form. I would have to see if technology based learning is beneficial for my students, or if they need face-to-face lessons in order to comprehend what I am teaching.

You can use ShowMe for personal or professional use. Whether you would personally like to educate yourself on a subject or topic, or create your own lessons and post them for students or the public, the option is yours. The main purpose of creating lessons is for others to learn from your information and what you have to offer on your whiteboard. You will be creating similar videos to other educators, so it is important to make yours unique and clearly get your point across in your lesson so that everyone will be able to understand.
Personally, I created an account on ShowMe and have been taking myself on a tour of the site. I still need to learn a little more about it before posting my own video. In the future this would be a quick and inexpensive option for me to connect with my students outside of the classroom. I hope that those of you reading my blog will check it out, it has an abundance of lessons on any subject or topic you can think of!
